These birds are very vocal during the breeding season. Males utter a loud decrescendo call, which can be heard for miles. A female gives the call when she wants to bring her ducklings to her. These calls are widely used by hunters who attract the birds by special whistles that remind the whistles of males or females. These birds are migratory. In autumn, when the ducklings are strong enough to cover long distances, they form large flocks and migrate to warmer southern areas. There they wait for the next breeding season. Some resident populations choose to stay in areas where food and shelter are abundant. Acquire a baby duck picture from a breeder and ask breeders about the care requirements.
